Powertrain and Drivetrain

The new Chevy Silverado 2500 comes with a 6.6-liter V8 that produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. You can also opt for the Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V8 engine, which pumps out 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque and comes with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. You can get either rear- or all-wheel drive.

The Chevy Silverado 3500 has the same engine, transmission, and drivetrain options. No matter which one you choose, you’ll have plenty of power at your disposal.

Towing and Hauling

You’ll love what these Chevy trucks can do when it comes to towing and hauling. The base engine in the Chevy Silverado 2500 will let you tow up to 14,500 pounds, and that goes up to 18,500 pounds with the diesel engine.

The numbers increase quite a bit with the Chevy Silverado 3500. Its base engine will let you tow up to 17,370 pounds, while the diesel engine has a tow rating of 36,000 pounds.

As for hauling, the Chevy Silverado 2500 has a maximum payload of 3,900 pounds, while the Chevy Silverado 3500 will let you haul up to 4,572 pounds.
