Should You Buy a New or Pre-Owned Chevrolet Trax?

November 15th, 2022 by

Once you you’ve got your sights set on a Chevrolet Trax for sale at Kearny Mesa Chevrolet, the next thing to think about is whether you should go with one that’s new or pre-owned. This guide takes a look at the 2022 model and how it compares to a pre-owned 2020 Chevy Trax in four important categories.

Power

The new Chevy Trax comes with a turbocharged 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 model also has a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine, but this one is slightly less powerful, producing 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Both come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

If you’re looking for extra oomph, the 2020 model might not make the cut. But if you want a smooth-handling crossover that’s great for both road trips and zipping around town, it’ll work great for you.

Gas Mileage

The Chevy Trax has very good gas mileage for its class. The new model gets 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway. The 2020 version will give you 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. Either way, you won’t have to stop at the pump too often.

Space

No matter which vehicle you go with, you’re going to have a spacious cabin that fits up to five people. You will also get a lot of cargo room: 18.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 48.4 cubic feet when they are down.

Tech

Both the 2022 and 2020 models come with many advanced tech features. These include:

  • Android Auto™
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Seven-inch touchscreen
  • Six-speaker stereo
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • 2 USB ports
  • Bluetooth®
